A Micah Moment was founded by and is led by Rev. Dr. Marilyn Aklin  (pronounced “ac’ lynn”). 

 

The name "A Micah Moment" is in honor of the scripture that Marilyn seeks to live her life by...to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly before God (Micah 6:8).

 

In addition to leading A Micah Moment, Marilyn is the founder and pastor of Micah African Methodist Episcopal Mission Church serving southwest Baltimore City.  MICAH strives to nurture disciples of Jesus Christ to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly before God. Her pastoral ministry focuses on spiritual growth, educational excellence, economic empowerment, entrepreneur development, and community development.  

 

Marilyn has significant experience in fundraising, community development, TRIO Programs, Title I parental involvement policy and advocacy, international relief, and higher education and is currently serving as the Director of Development for a nationally recognized workforce development organization.

Marilyn earned the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and the Master of Public Administration degrees from the University of South Carolina; the Doctor of Public Administration degree from the University of Baltimore; and the Master of Theological Studies from the Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, DC.  While at Wesley, she was a Presidential Scholar.  Marilyn is an itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal.

 

Marilyn is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (Maryland Chapter) and the Women of Color in Community Development.
